Patty Reese & Dave Chappell
Patty Reese has an undying passion for
creating and delivering soulful music. Her style has been compared to
Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge and Janis Joplin. Inspired by the vocals
of Etta James and Aretha Franklin, Reese's own standout vocal style
encompasses pop, blues, folk and rock. Along with years of accruing
stacks of Wammie nominations for her vocals, songwriting, recordings,
and her band, the Washington Area Music Association named her best roots
rock vocalist in 2008. She has played such Washington area venues as
Strathmore Music Center, The Birchmere, Rams Head Tavern, and Blues
Alley and festivals as the Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival, Rehoboth Jazz
Festival, Sunfest, and East Coast Jazz Fest. Dave Chappell is one of
the most sought-after and respected musicians in the area. For the past
several years, he has won Wammies for rock instrumentalist of the year
and roots rock instrumentalist of the year. The Washington Post calls
Dave a "guitar whiz"... and in an article about the Washington
Area Music Awards "The awards came so fast and furious for Chappell,
he didn't even know he'd won five until somebody asked him if he was
taking the rest of the year off to celebrate his haul." He has
performed with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legends Jerry Lee Lewis, Sam
Moore of Sam & Dave, Percy Sledge, as well as Johnny Johnson and
guitar wizard Danny Gatton. He can be heard frequently playing at area
clubs such as the Birchmere, the Ram's Head, and Iota, performing with
DC-area favorites Jimmy Stephanson and the Blue Dogs, Patty Reese, Mary
Ann Redmond, and Cathy King -- and from time to time, Bee Spears, Billy
and Paul English, and Mickey Raphael from the Willie Nelson Band. Since
January 2009, Dave has been hosting the Lord of the Strings Shows at
JV's in Falls Church, featuring many of the area's finest guitar slingers.

Mississippi John Hurt, Clifton Chenier, Leadbelly, Jimmy Reed, Fats
Domino, T-Bone Walker, and Professor Longhair. Ian has been a member
of the blues piano faculty at the famed Blues Week at the Augusta Heritage
Center in Elkins, WV. He performs regularly as a solo or duo at clubs
and festivals as well as with several bands in the Washington area.
