CHCF Grantee, Chiarina, joins Attacca Quartet for two shows on October 1st and 2nd

Two Evenings with the Attacca Quartet

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1st & SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2nd
7:30PM ⎟ ST. MARK'S CHURCH AND LIVE-STREAMED ⎟ 301 A STREET SE

The Grammy Award-winning Attacca Quartet joins Chiarina Artistic Directors Carrie Bean Stute and Efi Hackmey for a mini-residency and a weekend of concerts in Capitol Hill this fall! Join Chiarina for two special concerts of beloved and contemporary chamber music classics: Saturday October 1st and Sunday October 2nd at 7:30pm.

Described by the New York Times as "exuberant, funky, and exactingly nuanced," the Attacca Quartet's unparalleled artistry is woven into every performance. Audiences will experience a star-studded program on this first of two concerts with the Attacca Quartet: Dimitri Shostakovich's immediately popular Piano Quintet in g minor, Op. 57, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw's Valencia, and Edvard Grieg's String Quartet in g minor, Op. 27 which remains one of the most influential quartets of the 19th century.

Opening the second concert, Caroline Shaw's Entr'acte will not only be the midpoint in the Attacca Quartet's concerts with Chiarina but an overture to our 2022-23 season. Also inspired by the string quartets of Haydn, Maurice Ravel'sString Quartet in F Major incorporates several musical styles within a classical form. The program concludes with a work of sheer beauty, written by a master during the last year of his life: Schubert's String Quintet in C Major, D. 956.

This mini-residency, which includes concert performances and student events, is made possible thanks to the Capitol Hill Community Foundation's John Franzén Award for the Arts.

To attend in person at St. Mark’s Church, purchase tickets here. Please note that masks are required for all in-person attendees.
